When the circuit needs upgrading too
A lot of first-generation installs landed on a 30-amp circuit. If your new vehicle can accept 48 amps, keeping the old circuit means paying for a charger you cannot fully use.
We evaluate whether the existing conductors, breaker and panel capacity support the higher amperage, then either upsize the circuit or explain honestly why the panel needs attention first.

Fixing installs that were never right

Common questions
Can you reuse my existing circuit?
Often yes, if the conductors and breaker match the new charger's requirements. We verify rather than assume.
My charger's outlet is discolored. Is that serious?
Discoloration usually means heat from a loose or undersized connection, and it should be looked at promptly. Stop using the outlet and call us.
Can you move my charger to a different wall?
Yes. We can extend or reroute the circuit, or add a subpanel if the new location is far from the existing one.
Do you work on chargers you didn't install?
Yes. A large share of our EV work is correcting or upgrading someone else's installation.
Why does my EV charger keep tripping the breaker?
Common causes are an undersized or overheating breaker, a loose termination, a shared circuit or a failing charger. We test the circuit under load rather than swapping parts and hoping.
Should I replace a plug-in charger with a hardwired one?
Hardwiring removes the outlet, which is the part that most often overheats on a 40 amp continuous load. If your receptacle is discolored or your charger supports it, hardwiring is the more durable setup.
Can you upgrade a 32 amp charger circuit to 48 amps?
Only if the conductors and panel capacity support it. We check wire size, breaker space and the load calculation, then tell you whether it is a breaker change or a full circuit rerun.
How long does a charger replacement take?
Usually two to four hours when the existing circuit is sound. Rerouting or upsizing the circuit adds time, and we tell you which one you are looking at before we start.
Do you need a permit to replace an existing EV charger?
Replacing equipment on an existing, correctly sized circuit often does not, but any new or modified circuit does. We confirm with your jurisdiction rather than guessing.
